In December 2023, Kolkata, the cultural heart of eastern India, had the honour of hosting the inaugural travelling edition of the FootPrint Film Festival. Held in collaboration with the esteemed Kolkata Centre for Learning, this event showcased a vibrant array of films crafted by teens and young adults from eastern India and the subcontinent.
As FootPrint's first venture into a traveling format, the festival provided an unparalleled platform for young filmmakers to present their diverse narratives and innovative talents. Celebrating creativity and fostering cultural exchange, this landmark event underscored the powerful voices of youth in cinema, leaving a lasting impression on all participants and attendees.
DEBADRITA BOSE
Debadrita Bose started her career as a poet and translator. After publishing two poetry books she sought for a different medium of expression which is cinema. Debadrita deals with the subjects of gender and sexuality and her films talk about the same.
LABANYA DEY
Labanya Dey is a writer and a lifelong student of cinema. She completed her post graduation degree in film studies from Jadavpur University and is currently the editor of 'Countershot' - an online film magazine that publishes interviews and critical-polemical writings based on cinema. Her writings, which have been published in various platforms, include film analyses, prose, personal essays and fiction.
SHAHARIAR AL MAMUN
Shahariar Al Mamun is a member of the Executive Board of the Children's Film Society Bangladesh and serves as the Festival Director of the International Children's Film Festival Bangladesh. He is the junior editor of "Tetallish o Chuattorer Monnontor" and a film critic. Shahariar & his team won the prestigious "Young Talent Award" from CFS, and their film "Chilekothar Shepai: The Smoker" received official selections in various countries.
ANAMITRA KHAN
Anamitra Khan has been introduced to theatre at the age of three. Since then, his theatre journey has only gained momentum. He has acted in more than forty plays and directed gems like 'Ghyanghasur', 'Pluto' and many more.
SUDIP BARAL
Sudip Baral is a cinematographer working out of Kolkata. He has completed his diploma in motion picture photography from Roopkala Kendro and since then found his mettle in images, shapes and colors. Sudip has been working in a number of fictions and documentaries.
